Pembroke Panda Review #2

“Ugh another crappy panda blog” No one says in unison as these reviews are a valuable contribution compared to the rest of the smut the World Wide Web is riddled with. Lost in Bavaria: A Tale of King Ludwig and his Swans, by Steve Gage (Pembroke Travels)
Once upon a time, there was a Mad King who loved to build castles. He loved to build them so much that he nearly bankrupted his country and died under mysterious circumstances only one day after he was deposed as ruler. But the castles remain -crazy fairy tale concoctions, the forerunners to every Disney theme park, visions of an age that never was. The king was Ludwig II; the place was Bavaria. On a cold, snowy day this December I made the trek from Munich to the foothills of the Alps to visit Neuschwanstein, his most famous creation, along with Paul McMullens and Pete Morrissey, fellow Valencians both.

Things to do in Cambridge in January
It's the end of the first week in January, and people are returning to college, often somewhat reluctantly, after holidays spent at home or exploring Europe. Cambridge is cosy, but the skies are grey and it's easy to daydream about all the cheap flights to Portugal and Prague that leave from Stansted.

In actuality, though, Cambridge is a pretty interesting place, and exploring can make the beginning of the year much more cheerful! There is, as always, a lot to see and do, but we've selected a few events for inspiration.
